Your first text campaign: a 12-point checklist
From list to send button in an afternoon. The exact steps we walk every new sender through.
Your first text campaign doesn’t need a big plan - it needs a clean list and a clear message. Work down this checklist and you’ll be sending by the end of the afternoon.
Before you write
- Confirm every contact opted in, and remove anyone who didn’t.
- Pick one goal for the send: a sale, a booking, a reply.
- Choose the single segment most likely to care.
- Decide the one action you want - and the keyword to trigger it.
Writing the text
- Lead with the value in the first line - it’s the preview.
- Keep it to one or two sentences.
- Add your business name so it’s recognizable.
- Use a branded link, not a public shortener.
- Include the opt-out (“Reply STOP to opt out”).
Before you hit send
- Preview it on a real phone frame.
- Send a test to yourself and a teammate.
- Schedule for a sensible local time, not the middle of the night.
That’s twelve checks. Send to the segment, then watch replies land in your inbox and answer the first few personally - that’s where the magic of SMS actually happens.
